A day out with my daughter

Alkmaar and Amsterdam

On Friday, 20 July 2007, I took the day off to spend it with my daughter. We first went to Alkmaar to see the famous cheese market, and then to Amsterdam to see a photo exhibition, have lunch and buy books. We both enjoyed the day.

The fact that the cheeses are round has certain advantages when loading and unloading them

Spencer Tunick was recently in Amsterdam to do one of his large naked people shoots

In Westerpark, close to Anne Frank's house, there is a monument to gay people persecuted under the Nazis and elsewhere

Also in Westerpark, there is an outdoor exhibition of Steve Bloom's magnificent wildlife pictures
21
Steve Bloom's images are truly magnificent, rain or shine
22
We noticed many parents taking their children to see the pictures

Same father and sons, looking closely

We then moved on to the edge of the Bloemenmarkt, where we had an excellent falafel at Maoz

Huge posters attached to the H&M store advertise their bikinis while the weather is decidedly not suited for the beach

We finished the day at Waterstone's, my daughter's favourite shop in Amsterdam
