Aarhus - the European Capital of Culture 2017

A visit to my hometown during Aarhus Festuge (Aarhus Festival Week), an annual celebration of art and much else, bigger and better this year because of the city's status as a European Capital of Culture.

27-31 August 2017

The Jewish cemetery, Frederiks Allé. The Jewish community in Aarhus was always small and during the 20th century most of the observant Jews migrated to Copenhagen where there was a critical mass to have a properly functioning community. The last burial in Aarhus took place in 1905.
