A stroll through Warsaw

A record of my visit to Poland's capital in June 2018, focusing on the historical aspects of the city, often painful to contemplate. But today's Warsaw is also a reborn, modern, European city.

20-22 June 2018

Plac Zamkowy (Castle Square), the heart of the old city. All the buildings in this image lay in ruins in 1945, as did much of Warsaw. They have been carefully rebuilt, partly using old paintings as a reference. The King Gustav Wasa III column miraculously survived, sort of.
